Have a looksee here, on the CJ3B site, http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/CJ4Prototypes.html , it seems that the mockup photo's are from X98, the military prototype that led to the elusive "missing Link" CJ4 that was rediscovered in 1997, that eventually led to the M38A1/CJ5....
another piece of the puzzle eh!

I am in the process of restoring a 1955 DJ3A. My serial numbers says it a OB54. The Willys Jeep is 2 wheel drive, left hand drive. The wheels are 4 lug. I found it in a barn, the owner said it had been there for 15 yrs. Some one had changed over to a oil filter and a 12 volt system. I bought a battery and clean up the card, changed the oil. It started right up no tapping noisies and doesnt smoke at all. There was a rats nest in the muffle and it blew out when I got it running. I bought a roll bar for it and installed it. It didnt come with one but I figure with my house property is hilly i might as well for safety reasons. I paln to drive around town and work in the yard with it. This is my 1st Willys I have restored, I have learned alot. Its a Jeep thang you wouldnt understand!
